Just picked up my daughter from her freshman year at MIZZOU and thought I'd share our favorites from the year:
#1 for Breakfast:
ERNIE'S
Art Deco-design old diner-style joint. Line out the door but it moves quickly! A COMO classic - most go for breakfast. Sit at counter, or community table -- can't go wrong here for greasy but great breakfast food.
Lunch/Dinner: Other than our tailgate at the MIZZOU game...where we serve killer shish kebobs-- ![]()
FLAT BRANCH
Micro-brewery near campus. Saw a man in a kilt there last month. Great crowd around the bar and in restaurant. Twisted Pretzel = their specialty appetizer. YUM. Good all-around food and drink. Awesome salmon! Fun crowd. Outdoor seating.

44 STONE
Car Required - Cannot walk from campus. Excellent "British Pub" in a strip mall South of campus. Great ambiance, food, beer. Recommend for lunch or dinner. Great find! Outdoor seating.

ROME:
Just your basic Italian place -- pizza, pasta, salads -- but reliable stuff. Not fancy -- but you don't always need fancy!

ADDISON'S:
Great for after the game.

Drinks:
QUINTON'S:
Venue is great -- series of tiered, glass-enclosed balconies with an awesome sunset view of COMO with church bell towers adding to the interest... A touch of South Beach in MO. ![]()

Numerous other bars -- but those are easy to spot and undergrads will always know the way...no need to single them out here!

Thanks. I get to Columbia every once and awhile so I appreciate the suggestions. I tried The Rome recently when the line at Shakespeare's was way out the door and I was pressed for time. Exactly like you described.
Thumbs up for 44 Stone because I really love their crew and the food was so delicious
Yay! Thanks, 50HS.
I love Ernie's from way back. It still smells the same at 1100 on a Saturday morning.
