Colorado Suggestions, Sept 2 - Sept 8
Hi... reposting with more specific message title as suggested - Thanks!
We loved Colorado so much last year for our honeymoon, we are going back for our 1st anniversary!
We are going to Colorado Springs the first 2 nights, on to Canon City to whitewater rafting and the Royal Gorge on the 4th, and then on to Estes Park to stay at Keno's Llama Ranch, and go hiking at RMNP for the rest of the stay.
I'm looking for suggestions for restaurants and other interesting things to do in all of those areas.
We have been to Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls and Pikes Peak, so I'm needing other suggestions - not the usual tourist things...looking more for the Fodorite type of things!
I would really like a GREAT restaurant to take my hubby for our 1st anniversary dinner. We made it a year!!!

If you're en route to Estes, a great first anniversary restaurant would be in Boulder, the Flagstaff House, on a mountain overlooking the city. Expensive, but very classy and great food, particularly Colorado lamb.
If you're in Estes, then the best place in town is Twin Owls Steakhouse. That's where we ate for our first annivesary!

I had read that Twin Owls was very good - I'm glad that you confirmed that. I think we will try that. I checked out the other place, and although it looked very nice, I'm afraid a mortgage payment for dinner is a bit much. (exaggerating,,, a little)
Does anyone have a favorite trail in RMNP, that they think has the best scenary? (no 20 mile hikes, though)

There are plenty of lovely, scenic trails in RMNP that don't require the physique of an Olympic athlete or the hooves of a mountain goat (I have neither, I assure you!!)
A really nice hike is to Nymph/Dream/Emerald Lakes, from the Bear Lake trailhead. I think it's only about two miles one way, and it's a bit of a climb, but not too bad. Fantastic scenery makes it worth it. Another easy one is to Alberta Falls, from the same starting point. The best easy scenic area would be the flat, one-mile loop around Sprague Lake. The far side of the lake offers a spectacular view of Hallett Peak reflected in the water - sunset time would be perfect.
This is a great website with details on many more hikes in the park:

The best thing about hiking in the park is that that are no bad trails!
