Colonial Williamsburg with Children in November?

We are considering a trip to Colonial Williamsburg during the first week of November this year with our 3 young children (ages 7, 5 and 2). I've been to Williamsburg as a child and remember loving it but can't remember how old I was and am wondering if it will be an appropriate place for my three children at their ages?

It will mean almost nothing to the 2 youngest. I'd wait another 5 years.

We are taking our 6 and 8 year olds to Williamsburg in mid-Nov. because the 8 year old is studying colonial America including Williamsburg, Jamestown, etc. His teacher suggested that families in the class try to visit either this area or the Boston area. We will take lots of pictures and videos so that when the younger one studies this topic 2 years from now, he'll be able to see where we went and what we did. We are reading some children's books about that time period, including what it was like to be a child in that era.

Your 2 year old will not remember, but does that mean 2 year olds should stay home and do nothing until they are older? No, of course not.

Your 5 y.o. may not remember it, but they will have lots of fun, a number of programs are geared toward the 5-7 age group. I think it could be a very enjoyable vacation for your family.

I live in Williamsburg and have a 18 mo and a 3 yr old. We love walking Duke of Gloucester Street, marching with the Fife and Drum Corp., feeding the horses and biking all over. I think it's a lovely place for children and the Fall is a great time to be here. There are lots of programs for children through CW and some of the local museums and bookstores. If this would be your only trip to CW for your kids, you might wait a year or two, but if you can come more often, don't wait. It's enchanting and great for kids.
