Colonial Williamsburg tickets??
This is so confusing...I'm going to be there April 17 for 3 nights. It is just me & spouse. We also plan to see Jamestown & Yorktown. I think I'll need the 'triangle' tickets but am not sure. Maybe I need tickets for EACH place? Do I just buy the tickets when I get there or what? All the websites I've tried want to give me a hotel package but I already have my hotel reservations.
TIA!
TIA!

There is a Triangle ticket you mention for those staying in one of the Colonial Williamsburg hotels. Depending on your time scheduled for CW, you might choose the Capitol City-$36.00-Pass, but would exclude the Governor's Palace. Or you might want the Governor's Key to the City Pass - $49.00- to include the Palace. See the website for the differences. I know that the National Park at Yorktown offers a combination ticket for Historic Jamestown and Yorktown battlefield. There is a Historic Triangle ticket for Colonial Williamburg, Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown Battlefield, Colonial National
Historic Park, Yorktown Victory Center. That may be your best bet. Check out the National Park website for Yorktown.
But, if you do decide to change your hotel reservations, I believe CW offers a shuttle to Jamestown and Yorktown. I think you can ride the shuttle even if you aren't staying in CW hotels. At least they did last summer. CW has a pretty wide assortment of hotels and I've staying in them all with the exception of the Governor's. Do buy the tickts for CW. I hear and read of so many people who balk at the thought of spending 50.00 for a ticket when you can "just walk around the streets" for free. You don't get the full story of your history or the city. This is a special year for Jamestown and I know there are so many special things to do and see. Research the websites and find out what is happening in each area. You can purchase your tickets ahead for Colonial Williamsburg. I don't think you will need to do that at Yorktown. Just walk up and purchase your ticket. If you really need to know ahead of time, call them. My family has been vacationing in Williamsburg for years and we always have a grand time. The people of Williamsburg are friendly and helpful. Enjoy!

2 additional comments. CW now closes part of the historic area in the afternoon for those with tickets only, so brousing for free is not as open as in the past. CW also offers several on-site lodging plans that are very reasonable, keeps your tourist dollars going to a good cause and even better-many plans offer length-of-stay admission access. These plans are as low as $49pp pre nite.

I agree with cheapbutnice2. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is very worthwhile place give your money to. And staying in the one of the hotels is a good thing because your admission ticket is lowers. Plus, all but one hotel is within walking distance (some more than others) to the historic district.

First of all, where are you staying? If you are staying at a hotel that is part of the hotel/motel association, they can get you tickets and have them for you right at the hotel.
As far as a triangle ticket, you did not mention that you wanted to go to Colonial Williamsburg. Did you just want to see Jamestown and Yorktown and if so you can just purchase tickets for each of them right at the door of each place.
You can go to visitwilliamsburg.com and purchase tickets but they charge a surcharge. Just go to the "book lodging" page and you will see a link to "just buy tickets" where you can at least view prices and what is included.

Don't buy your tickets in advance unless you absolutely must for some reason.
When you arrive at Colonial Williamsburg, go to the Visitors Center where they have wonderfully helpful customer service people to help you -- you'll probably save money.
While you're there, be sure to see the short film "Story of a Patriot"; it really sets the mood for your visit.
While at Jamestown, don't miss the new archealogy museum -- incredible!

My family and I are going to Williamsburg in June and we opted to not stay in CW. Staying at CW was going to cost us about $125 more than booking a hotel and buying the tix separately. Thanks for the tip on buying the tix at the visitors center.
