I'm going by car from cost to cost (NY-LA or SF) next summer, and I wonder which route to take. (Northern/Southern and so on)I would very much like to have tips on the best/most interesting route. I like it to vary a lot and contain both city and countryside.
We have about 4-5 weeks travelingtime.

Wow! Coast-to-coast is a big undertaking. How long will you have? One
way or out and back again (maybe different routes).
First thing is to find out if your local automobile club has reciprocal
agreements with AAA (American Automobile Association). If so, join and
send for maps of USA and each major segment (Northwest, Southwest,
Northeast & Southeast). Then you can plan a better trip and then get
into specific places to see (then get 'TourBooks' for States you will be
going through). AAA will help you plan specific routes and provide
detailed 'TripTics' and State maps.
I do a lot of travel in the Southwest (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico &
Utah and can provide some details of places to see in that area - also
web sites to visit to help plan. If you want details on SW, e-mail me
at : doyles@bigfoot.com. (change my reply to address from 'bigfeet' to
'bigfoot' for anti-spam). Larry fm St Pete, FL
