Cocoplum Resort in Marathon

Hi everyone...I'm a timeshare owner and I'm thinking about an exchange to the Cocoplum Resort in Marathon. I own at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Las Vegas and Hilton tells me I will have a difficult time trading to Cocoplum because it is not up to "Hilton's" standards. I've seen the Cocoplum website, and it looks really nice. Anyone ever stayed there? Can you give me any insight as to why it might not be up to par with Hilton?
Also thinking about the Galleon Resort in the Keys. That one is up to Hilton's standards--but I really like the idea of a nice beach on the property like the one pictured at Cocoplum. HELP!! It's such a crap shoot when you haven't been someplace and you're relying on pictures.
Thanks!
Amy

think you should take the Galleon and run.....doesn`t that tell you something when they say"it`s not up to standards"?......

Haven't stayed at either but have checked out both on the outside. Cocoplum looks awful; Galleon looks great - a MUCH better location and property. It is extremely difficult to get into on a timeshare swap. Good luck.

I stayed at the Coco Plum a few years ago and we loved it. We ended up there totally by accident. We arrived at our hotel and saw it was a dump and so at the very last minute our TA steered us toward CocoPlum. I remember my initial first reaction of walking in and seeing the glass topped dining room table with the fancy glasses holding napkins shaped like fans and thought wow! The units are nice and since we were there last they had a hurricane (don't remember which one) so they had to build a new pool. The pool area/beach is as nice as it looks and you can walk back through the greenery to a hot tub. Units are all self contained so no noisy upstairs neighbors. The units are up on posts so you can basically walk under them, but as I recall, there is a small room under each unit with a washer/dryer. Really nice patios (like the pics) all screened in so no bugs. I remember sitting at the table by the pool and watching dolphins swim by in the ocean. Cabanas on beach are really nice at night for watching the stars. I've stayed at Hiltons and don't see what the big deal is - a basic hotel room. I would take CocoPlum over them any day.

I've never stayed at - or seen - the Cocoplum, so my opinion is definitely biased. My husband and I usually spend a couple of weeks in the fall and a couple more in the spring at the Galleon. It's absolutely wonderful!! It's in a perfect location and has some of the world's best restaurants within walking distance. Key West is packed with interesting things to see and do, but if you're like us and just want R&R it's wonderful, too. As for beaches...well you won't find much in the way of beaches in the keys, as they're ALL man-made and most are very tiny. If you are looking for a true "beach" experience, you'll be very disappointed either place.
