Clothing for France in late May
Two years ago my husband and I spent 11 wonderful days in Paris in early April. In late May of this year, we will be returning with our two sons ages 7 and 18. Can anyone tell me what the appropriate attire is for this time of year? We will not be wearing shorts but are "longer" capri pants acceptable for me? How warm will we need to dress for days/nights? Do the boys and my husband also need to wear khaki pants or can the kids wear jeans? (We will also we touring the Normandy coast.) We do not wish to embarrass ourselves or offend the French. Help?
Thanks

It's true that you will see the clothing question asked and answered ad nauseum if you check the Euro board.
IMO, let the kids wear what they will. I saw tons of jeans in Paris in May in 2002, especially on younger people, so I think both of your sons are fine. Didn't you find that to be true on your trip? I saw lots of capris in May, most with higher, cuter heels than I would be happy sightseeing in, unfortunately.
It was unseasonably warm when we were there in late May, into the low 80's, but I still was glad for a sweater in the evenings. On the other hand, my husband was miserable during our $400 dinner at Pierre Gagnaire, where they apparently had not turned on a/c for the year. I was uncomfortably hot in a sleeveless cocktail dress, so you can imagine how happy he was in a suit.
Have fun. Bring layers.

Layers always is a good idea. We spent 5 wonderful rainy wet cold days in late June in Paris! Then we moved onto Germany and Austria and all but one day out of 15 were wet and 50 - 60 degrees! We did have a wonderful time though once we bought a few sweaters!
