Closest subway station to Statue of Liberty ferry

After arriving back in Battery Park on the ferry from the Statue of Liberty, what is the closest subway station to catch a train uptown toward FAO Schwarz, and which direction do I walk from Battery Park to get to the station? Thank you.

Two choices:

At the northern end of Battery Park, at the Bowling Green station you can catch a 4 or 5 train to 59th St and Lexington Ave, a few avenues away from FAO Schwartz.

Across the street from Battery Park at the southern end, at the Whitehall St station you can catch the R or W to 59th St/Fifth Ave stop, just across the street from FAO Schwartz.

The 4 or 5 might be faster since both are express trains. However, I think they may have delays or service interruptions on weekends--read the signs before you go thru the turnstiles.

If you are going to the ferry on the weekend, make sure you check which subways are running as this past weekend the RW was not running through lower manhattan.
check hopstop.com which should give you accurate directions that take into account subway disruptions

How do I find the Bowling Green station from where I get off the ferry? Thanks.

It is at the north edge of Battery Park near Broadway. Please consult a map.

Ohio - I am not great at public transportation - I was finally brave enough through the coaching of wonderful Fordorities to give the subway a try and I am so glad I did! It is very easy and I took the subway exactly where you are looking to do it - It is very easy to find and I am sure you will be fine. I did have a map and that helped but think I could have without it as well. Best of luck!
