Circus Circus or Treasure Island?

We stayed at Circus Circus on our 2 visits in 1997 and had a great time (our rooms were in the new west tower), we are going to Las Vegas in June and have heard really bad things about Circus Circus are they true?
We didn't eat at the buffet because of the atmosphere has it improved? We really like Circus Circus, but we like Treasure Island too even though we haven't stayed there.

Thanks for the help!

I personally would not set foot in Circus Circus. Treasure Island would definitely be a better choice. I personally always stay at the Flamingo Hilton.

If this trip is for adults the Flamingo Hilton or the Mirage is the way to go-if you have kids then Treasure Island or the Excalibur. My AAA guidebook says the Mirage is a 4 star hotel and Excalibur and Tresaure are 3 star hotel whereas Circus circus is a 2 star hotel. The best buffets in town are over at the Rio and catch the show there too. The Rio is also a 4 star hotel.Have fun!

I agree with all the above; I'd only go to Circus Circus, Excalibar or Treasure Island if I had little kids that I wanted to keep entertained.

I've stayed at the the Imperial Palace, Bally's and Rio. I liked the last two VERY much.

Ann - Ever consider the Monte Carlo? One very nice feature of the MC is their check-in/out area is separate from the casino so you won't be bumping into people in the casino, or them into you, with your luggage. Also, the bank of elevators to get you to your room isn't a mile away, thru the casino. Great feature if you've got any amount of luggage. As I recall, they had a pretty good buffet.
In my opinion, Circus Circus is way past its prime. Consider something newer, and maybe more centrally located on the strip.

Wherever you wind up, have fun and may the slot gods be shining down on you !!

The first thing you need to do is visit some LV web sites....like,

Circus Circus is outdated even though it's got the best (and largest under one roof) theme park. A better hotel for kids is Excalibur or New York, New York. If you're not taking kids (you didn't indicate) then I'd suggest: Imp.Palace, Mirage, Treasure Island, or Harrahs..or worth the trip off the strip is RIO! In fact, Rio would be my first choice if you're young and energetic; or the Flamingo Hilton for the pool.
Have fun! Feel free to write me at [email protected] or visit THE VEGAS VISITOR at http://e-vegas.net/exchange/index.htm
