This is my 3rd try to get this on the "Ohio" board. Sorry for the redundance. My wife and I will be in Cincinnati in late April for a family get together and I found Garfield Suites on the internet but am confused about the overall quality of the place. The guest reviews seem to be very positive but most of the travel sites only give it 2 stars (or slightly more)---not that good by most standards. I like the idea of a suite as I am an early riser and my wife likes to sleep in so the extra room allows her to sleep in without me waking her up watching early morning news programs.
Could anyone who has some familiarity with this hotel enlighten me on the place and perhaps shed some light on the disparity between the good traveller's reviews and mediocre ratings? Thanks for any help

I stayed there for one night when I was in college when our sorority was in town for our formal (this was 10 years ago), that said, I'll tell you what I remember. It was nice - I believe it was formerly apartments. Everything was clean, decent sized kitchen, nice little balcony, attractive lobby. The lower rating might just be due to not receiving any of the luxuries offered at higher end hotels. I think it will be fine for you - it's not a dive or anything. Another option would be the Embassy Suites just on the other side of the Ohio River in Kentucky.
Thanks snowrooster. I think what you say makes sense as to why it is not more highly rated. For what we are looking for it sounds just fine. As it turns out, our 27 yr. old son may be coming as well and one of the 2 BR suites would be perfect.
