Cincinatti(CVG) Airport Layover What is Nearby?

We are a family of four, two kids, flying into CVG airport with a four hour layover before our flight to Rome. Any suggestions for a mall or miniature golf or activity in the area. I realize it is in a small town but need suggestion of what area is closest to airport that might have some fun activity to do before long flight.

CVG is actually in Kentucky, I always thought that was weird. I recently had a layover there and felt like I was in a mall, not an airport! Hopefully somebody will have a good suggestion on what to do, I just browsed the shops and ate!

That's correct that the Cincinnati airport is actually in KY and at least 15 miles from Cincinnati. There really isn't much around the airport itself - with only four hours you are probably best staying put. If you do feel the need to get out, Florence, KY is probably going to be your best bet. It is just a few minutes from the airport (275 to 75 South) and there is a mall (though not a great one) and a miniature golf course in area. If you happen to have you layover during a meal time, there are tons of Skyline Chili's in the area and this is a Cincinnati tradition (chili over spaghetti w/cheese).

The Florence (y'all) Mall is nearby, that & Turfway Park (if you are into horse racing) are the only things in close enough proximity that I would venture out to.

Cinc/Northern Ky airport is in rural northern Ky. It's a nice airport and you might find things to do, eating and shopping, there, but there is nothing nearby. We think it is funny that it is possible to be in three states when going to the Cinc airport from northern Cincy...bypass 275 goes from Ohio through a corner of Indiana to Ky on the way to the airport. Florence Mall is doable but personally I would not bother to leave the airport.

Hello. Since downtown Cincinnati is only about 12 miles, I was planning to take the local bus/transportation upon arrival in CVG at around 8pm. Is this an easy, safe option? Any tips on doing this? Thanks

I don't know about the buses as I typically take a cab or have a rental. If you insist on leaving the airport (again, I would not) I would opt for the Newport on Levee area rather than 'downtown Cincinnati'. What ARE you looking for or trying to accomplish anyway ?

Jef7

I assume you're destination is in Cincinnati (not just a 4 hour layover)

Not sure how that happened. Again Jef7 I assume your destination is Cincinnati, if so try http://www.cvgairport.com/ground/public.shtml for info if you need it on public transportation from the airport. It will still be light here at 8PM so safety should not be an issue. Again, not sure what your actual plans are.

TO shoffman--also can maybe get some info from http://www.cvgairport.com/
I agree that I don't think you have enough time to leave the airport vicinity--won't you have to go through security again when you return. There's a childrens play area in one of the terminals.
