Christmas Events 12/4-12/6?
I will be visiting Washington DC this coming weekend and I'm interested in any Christmas events that may be happening. We certainly plan on seeing the tree at the WH elispse and I've heard there is ice skating at the US Botanic Garden though I have not seen anything on their website. As always any advice is appreciated.

Here is the best Christmas event in town that weekend.
Slightly biased as I sing in the group. We DID win a WAMMIE for best DC area vocal group. Tickets are $20 or $25 (slightly better seats). Before or afterwards you can see the tree at the Capitol as well.

Closest Metro station is Capitol South (4 blocks away). Plenty of free street parking if you are driving.

I don't think there's an ice rink at the Botanic Garden. Are you perhaps thinking of the rink in the National Gallery of Art's sculpture garden? I saw preparations underway two weeks ago, and cool weather is predicted for this week, so I expect it to be functioning. Check the Gallery's website for details.
The NGA rink is between the Mall and Constitution Ave at 7th Street NW, just across from the Archives.

The National Gallery of Art has an ice rink. Friends are viewing DC Holiday displays in DC beginning at Union Station. Take a look at our "itinerary" for ideas. All are within walking distance of each other. You can visit other areas of the city by hailing a cab.

Even though the Botanic Garden doesn't have ice skating, it is a wonderful place to visit during the Christmas season. There are scale models of DC buildings and monuments made entirely of plant material -- leaves, moss, cork, etc. -- that are just amazing. Info here:

The National Cathedral does a display of nativity scenes from around the world each December that's worth a visit.
And I'd second the Botanic Gardens this time of year...it's just a few blocks from the skating rink at the National Gallery's Sculpture Garden.
