Two comments:
1. Which Chinatown?
2. "Fast food" and "great" are usually not compatible!

Is there any restaurant in Chinatown anywhere that serves at a leisurely pace?

In NY, we love Joe's Shanghai on Pell St.

The best 'fast food' place in NY's Chinatown is Big Wong Restaurant, which is on Mott St. It serves noodles, lo mein, soup, roast pork, congee(rice porridge)etc. It is cheap, fast, and the place is decorated like a hole in the wall.

FWIW:
Authentic chinese 'egg rolls' are actually called Spring Rolls'.
If you ask for an egg roll, you will never get an authentic one; Caucasians perception of what an egg roll is an American creation. So ask for a 'Spring Roll', and you will get the real thing!

FWIW, there are actually three "Chinatowns" in NYC. The familiar one in Manhattan and more recent and growing communities in Sunset Park (Brooklyn) and Flushing (Queens). Manhattan Chinatown is the best known.

Big Wong is closed for renovations. I was there this afternoon and it looks like it's changing ownership.

For some good, quick food try any of these - I frequent all of them.

East Corner Wonton - 70 East Broadway

Bho Ky - 80 Bayard Street

Sweet n Tart - 76 Mott Street

XO - 148 Hester Street

New Pasteur - 85 Baxter Street

I have to agree with Anthony. There's no such thing as a Chinese egg roll. New Pasteur is Vietnamese and the spring rolls are wonderful.
