Looks like it gets very good reviews on Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g60865-d472164-Reviews-Chief_Motel-Custer_South_Dakota.html
I find TripAdvisor extremely helpful in selecting motels and hotels.
However, I discount reviews from those who have reviewed only one motel. I assume they were written my somebody who may have an interest in the property or an ax to grind.
I note that most of the favorable reviews for Chief Motel in Custer were written by people who haven't reviewed other motels and that the two highly unfavorable reviews for the Comfort Inn in Custer were written by people who haven't reviewed any other motel or hotel.
In this case, I would go with Comfort Inn and Suites.
