Chicago: Where to stay-Cool place (20-30 somethings)
Never been to Chicago and am not familiar with locations. Looking for an 'In the Mix' area and cool/hip hotel (no more than $175 per night) Thanks!

Blperez,
I would suggest the W Hotel on Lake Shore Drive, or the Sofitel Hotel on chestnut. Both are "boutique/hip" hotels and the area is downtown..Mag mile area.
I have heard alot of ppl talk about priceline, I have never used it, but Expedia.com is pretty good and gives you great DETAILED info on all the hotels. hope this helps!

I live in Chicago now, but before I moved here a year ago, I visited often. You can find very affordable hotel rates in the Mag Mile area...$99 night sometimes. Try the Hilton Garden Inn or the Best Western, or anything around the Grand/Michigan Ave area. I guess these are just traditional hotels (not "hip") but have great locations...many restaurants and some bars/cubs around there, great shopping, close to Navy Pier, parks, beaches. There is also a close-by subway station that will take you to cool nightlife spots like Lincoln Park and Bucktown for $1.50 each way. It's very easy to navigate and use.

The House of Blues on Dearborn St. is definitely the funkiest, wildest looking place we've ever been in Chicago. It is actually a Loews hotel, so you can easily find their website and take a look. You will either love the look or hate it, but it's anything but sedate! As for price, you'll have to search around for the best deal. We once stayed at the Palmer House Hilton and got a deal via the internet for under $100, but my brother-in-law paid double for a room that wasn't double the size. Go figure. Rates are all over the place. Hotel Monaco is also fun, and just as well located.

The Sutton Place is very cool and right in the middle of the action! The Whiskey Bar is in the lobby, Gibson's across the street, and Melvin B's (fun outdoor beer garden) down the street. I would also second the Sofitel.
