Chicago Trip to see Oprah
Two of my girlfriends and I are traveling to Chicago on April 20th and staying until April 24th. The only definite plan we have is a dream come true chance to go to a taping of the Oprah Show on April 21st. Please post recomendations for dining, theatre, sightseeing and shopping! We all tend to be frugal, but willing to spend if it is a "can't miss" opportunity! We all love music and would like to attend some sort of concert or musical. The only thing I see which sparks my curiousity is "The Blue Man Group". Looking forward to your posts!!!!

My girlfriends and I are going to Chicago April 23rd -26th. We have been trying to get tickets to Oprah but we haven't been able to. We are staying at The Drake. Our plans are to go to Second City Sat. night and Blue Man Group Sunday night. Do you have any ideas for us that you can pass on?

We were fortunate as a friend works for a tv station affiliated with the station that produces Oprah. I'm counting my blessings as this is a dream come true. Have you been to the Blue Man Group before? It looks interesting!

If you are going to the 11am taping, be sure to eat first as you won't get out until 3pm. There is alot of standing around and waiting. Wishbone Restaurant just down the street from Harpo Studio is a great place for breakfst-good interesting food and quick service. People started lining up to get in to the 11 taping at about 9:30. It's really fun-everyone is in a great mood since they've all taken off work to go there! There are so many great places to go & things to do in Chicago-put up Chicago on this website and see. There are reviews here of lots of the shows. You can also go to metromix.com and see what's happening while you're there. BlueMan is great, Second City is great, the list goes on and on. You can also put up "oprah" on this site and get info from previous posters.

I am a native Chicago gal and I highly recommend going to eat lunch at the Grand Lux Cafe ( awesome restaurant). It is above the Ann Taylor store on the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Avenue)where you have to stroll and shop! The entrance to the restaurant is just off of Michigan and Superior. My husband and I drive into Chicago just to eat there.
