A Visit to Charleston
Having just booked for late May, I can tell you it's not always easy to find a good & reasonable place downtown. Rates & discounts can vary greatly depending on what convention or festival is on. However, go to the Yahoo site & check it's city cite on Chicago (bottom of site links). From here you can check on Lodgings & link to the HOT ROOMS site for discounted rooms --they have a 1-800 # t o make the booking.
I've stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn that is located two blocks east of the Water Tower indoor mall. The rooms are all small suites. They have full kitchens and one or more bedrooms, and I have gotten some very good rates. The hotel is within walking distance to all the fancy stores on Michigan Ave and the lake side beach.
