Hello,
I am writing to find out various amenities available at the Chicago Hyatt Regency on Wacker Dr. Will basic things like ice or soda machines be available? I ask this on the forum because the web site does not provide these details.
Thanks

Keep in mind that this is a HUGE hotel and it has every amenity imagineable. Yes, it has soda and ice machines.
We're staying here end of September. Looks like a nice hotel, but how's the location? We'd like to do shopping on the famous Mile, also the navy pier, Shedd Aquarium. Would like to go to a comedy club on Friday or Saturday evening, but not crazy about driving - how pricy are cabs, how safe/easy is public transportation?
thanks!
The Hyatt's close to all the sights you mentioned. VERY close. And you're just a short cab ride from a comedy club (Zanies on Wells). Public transportation is safe for the most part, though I would cab it if it's late at night.
The Hyatt is a big business hotel. You can find a cheaper hotel with more ambience and a better location if you look around. Also, try to get tickets for Second City. it is a landmark. It may be famous too but its called the Magnificent Mile Try and stay on or off Michigan Ave between the Drake Hotel and Grand avenue
We've already got the Hyatt booked $80/nite - is that too much? Also, how do we get tickets for the comedy clubs -
should we try to get them now, or wait till we get there on that Friday?
I've never stayed at the Hyatt on Wacker, but I looked into it last winter. Ended up somewhere else, because the rooms that were really cheap, like around $80.00 were something called 'parlor suites' and I think you either had to sleep on a hide-a-bed or a Murphy bed, I can't recall which. And don't forget to factor in parking, which is over $30.00 per night.
For Zanie's or Second City, you are probably better off booking in advance as the shows do sell out, esp. for Saturday. I rarely see Second City tickets at hottix for anything besides the late show at 11:00 pm on Friday. I have seen Comedy Sportz tickets (improv) at hottix for both Fri and Sat. If you want to get an idea of what pops up you can check them out at www.hottix.org.
You can get tickets for Second City by calling the box office or online, go to www.secondcity.com for more info. For Zanies, try www.zanies.com. I think you have to call their box office for tickets as the website isn't very good.
