Clark Street is 5 blocks west of Michigan Avenue, not too far to walk. #515 should be a few blocks north of the Chicago River.

The easiest way to figure out if the location is close enough to what interests you then go to Google or Yahoo maps. Put in the adress of the hotel and then do "what's nearby" search. The map will show you the possible restaurants, shopping areas, nightlife, and other attractions. You then can do research on the places and see if it interests you and your friends. If so, then you can map it and find out the distances, time to get there on foot, public transportation or car. You can do a "street view" as well. It will give you an idea about the nearby neighborhood.

It is a perfect location as it's in River North area and close enough to Magnificent Mile and downtown area.

Have fun. Chicago is a wonderful city with many things to offer, great food, entertainment, shopping, historical and modern attractions, beautiful lakefront, etc.

Nice location, Vittoria. I would not hesitate to book if the rate is good. You'll have about a 5 block walk east to Michigan Avenue, but between your hotel and the Avenue, restaurants, bars and shopping are chock-a-block.

For a shopping weekend, you'll likely be splitting your time between (on the north) 400 N-850 N Michigan, Oak street (between Michigan and Rush), 800-1100 N Rush Street. And on the south, State Street between 300 S. State north to the Chicago River.

If you were thinking of having a location where you can drop off shopping bags or pop back in to your hotel for a break a time or two during the day, the hotel isn't as convenient for that -- you'd want to plan your day so that you shop on the north/south and swing by your hotel on your way to the south/north.

If you let us know your approximate age, I may be able to help with some stores to hit. There are lots that cater to teens and twenty-somethings, but those for 30-40-50's and up are harder to locate for non-locals.

Post back if you'd like suggestions on good restaurants in area of your hotel. There are loads of 'em. Another nice thing for you and your friends to do is have a drink at the Nomi rooftop lounge or at ROOF (in the W Hotel), or afternoon tea at the Drake. Sounds like a great weekend!

Thank you everyone for your replies, I was asking for my daughters weekend getaway in July, they decided against the ALOFT hotel and found a good deal at The Embassy Suites.

Thanks again.....
