I am looking for a hotel in Chicago with a view, but more importantly with a balcony. It's a must have for us. Any recommendations by the river would be much appreciated.

Never mind the hotel - just make sure to have a few drinks (and maybe eat too) at Gibsons on North Rush !
It's my favorite bar/restaurant in the US !
I don't know about hotels with a balcony, but we stayed at the Homewood Suites on Grand Ave. and loved it. We had a beautiful view of the city-we asked for a view of the clock tower-I love it. The hotel has breakfast every morning and a light dinner(wine and beer included) on Mon-Thurs. I think you will like this hotel-it is in a great location for walking around the city.
On the river, SwissHotel, Fairmont(nearby),Hyatt Regency, Sheraton, Renaissance, Trump, Westin River North. I think the Park Hyatt next to the Watertower on Chicago Avenue may have some balconies.
Thank you very much, everybody. Will consider everyone's suggestions.
We have spent a lot of time in Chicago over the years and cannot remember one hotel with a balcony.
I think the new Radisson Blu may have balconies and great views:

Stayed at the Club Quarters on E. Wacker at Michigan Ave. greay view of the river but no balcony. Small rooms if you plan on having a party but fine for two people. Good restaurant adjoing hotel. Great location for exploring The Magnificent Mile.
