Chicago - Breakfast/Brunch mag mile & Food w/ 19 yr old HELP!
Staying at the Whitehall this coming Sat night and wondering if there is a good "local" breakfast place in the area. Is there such a thing? Then I am looking for some fun/trendy/something that would appeal to a "hip" 19 year old for dinner on Sat night also in that area.(not too exp) Unfortunately we then have to move to the Club Quarters on West Adams for Sun Night so looking for the same in that area for lunch and dinner. Any kind of food we are open to. This is for my son's 19th birthday on Monday. Thinking of the top of John Hancock 1 night for the view and a coke . Any suggestions welcome.

Club Quarters on W. Adams is pretty close to Greektown, my niece and I walked there from the Sears Tower last week or you can take a short cab ride. Greek Islands is my favorite but we ate at Athena this time and I didn't like it nearly as much as Greek Islands although they did have a nice outdoor patio.
My two Loop breakfast recommendations are actually closer to your 2nd hotel, Orange on Harrison which is a trendy place or Lou Mitchell's on Jackson near Union Station for the classic Chicago experience.

Ina's on West Randolph, not far from Greektown, is a great breakfast place. http://www.breakfastqueen.com/
Tempo is also a great breakfast place, probably more hip than Inas.

Well, if you have good legs, I would walk to Lou Mitchell's for breakfast. My mouth waters just thinking of their French toast. Hopefully the line will be a little long, they give you samll boxes of Milk Duds while you are waiting. We had a good plate brunch at the Atwater Cafe. If you do the Hancock, try to sneak your son into the Ladies' Room (I am not kidding, lots of people do it). The best view is south looking into the Loop from there. Trattoria 10 on Dearborn would be good for dinner. Be sure to stop at Garrett's for popcorn, my teenagers love it. There is a great food court, FoodLife, in the Water Tower with lots & lots of choices. Have fun!

Thanks for all the great tips. We are thinking about Greektown. I hope there is enough happening there on Sunday night. Is that area ok to walk around after dark?
I will check all these places out. Some great suggestions. I've been soooo looking forward to this weekend.....if we can only say cool.

I wouldn't hesitate to walk to Greektown in the daytime but at night I'd probably take a cab. There's a stretch between the two that's pretty isolated. As far walking through Greektown, there really isn't much to see, restaurants, a bakery, a couple of shops but nothing really worth strolling around to look at.
