The zoo is a good distance away from the fire zone. It is open and operating as of today.
Finally, some good news tekwriter. I've been watching my hometown burn from halfway across the world.
thanks tekwriter. i looked at the giraffe cam yesterday afternoon & could see smoke. made me wonder if the zoo has an evacuation plan. sending prayers to everyone in colo
Although a mountainside subdivision was virtually leveled after the winds took the fire to the east, the city of Colorado Springs proper is fire-free, and handling the crisis pretty darn well. Let's hope that the weather cooperates now, and the firefighters can establish a firm perimeter of containment.
