Here's a good overview of events, services, traffic and transit info for this year's cherry Blossom season, which is already well under way:

Yes - in the year of no winter everythng is early. I was in Central Park this am and some of the trees had buds and there were even a few daffodils. this is weeks earlier than usual.
Yay, kayd. I am headed there this week, perfect timing!
I got a quick look at the Tidal Basin area from the car as we crossed the 14th St Bridge to Virginia this morning, and the trees looked to be just short of peak fullness.
Thanks, kayd. I'm headed to DC next week.
I'm heading there on the 30th -- do you think they'll still be in bloom?
Most Tidal Basin trees will have lost their blossoms after two weeks, but other varieties of cherry trees bloom later, so there will be some to see at the end of the month. (Not making promises or pretending expert info, only guessing based on 20+ yrs living in DC.)
kayd, I will be staying in Alexandria with some friends from high school (class of sixty four to give you the right perspective). Any suggestions for great shops or special attractions? We have a good list for dining and spas but open to more ideas!
Very excited as we leave for DC on Thursday. Are there boat tours or a special tour to see the trees along the Tidal Basin? I am assuming with the nice weather it is warm enough for boat tours to have begun?
Boats with a view of the Tidal Basin trees are the paddle boats you pedal around in the basin, surrounded by the trees.
Make your reservations now!
