cheap ski clothes

Can anyone suggest a sporting goods store or discount place where we can pick up good but affordable ski clothing. We don't go skiing very often but the bibs, jackets and thermals we still have or over 20 years old. Is it close to the end of the season winter clothing sale time yet? We're driving from LAX to Big Bear Lake so anywhere in the LAX/Santa Monica?LMU area and towards Big Bear is fine. We're also stopping by that outlet mall in Cabazon. Mahalo!

Aloha.

There is a North Face store at the Cabezon mall as well as Timberland and a couple outdoor type stores. Also, check on-line for Oshmans Sports, Sportmart, Big 5 for sales on their web sites. After President's Day a lot of the ski stores start depleting their inventories.

Two good online discount stores are campmor.com and sierratradingpost.com. I get most of our family ski gear at these two sites.

Now is a great time to buy because of end of the season sales in most ski shops.

www.rei-outlet.com is another place to check for end-of-season and clearance-priced outdoor and sports clothing.

We live in the south. It is very hot, never a need for winter clothes so they last forever. Last year we decided to go snow skiing. We went to Goodwill and bought ski suits for $7.00 each. They were bought in the south so they looked brand new, only worn once it seemed. When we returned home we donated them back to goodwill. Why keep it if you only use it once every twenty years?

Check out consignment (resale clothing stores) in your area. I bought a beautiful 1 piece like-new ski outfit there really cheap. Or, resale sporting good stores. We have Play It Again Sports here in the Midwest. They have jackets, bibs, skis, boots and anything else. Also, check out garage sale ads and sporting equipment ads in the paper. You can find bargains there.

Both the regular and sale items at REI offer great value for your money. Look for the REI brand name products and Columbia.

I just finished making my last few purchases for our family ski trip later this month. I checked out these sites for a few items I couldn't find. Boy did I ever feel sick when I saw some of the prices at Campmore and Sierra Trading. I payed much, much more for the same brands. At least I'll know for the next time. One drawback is that some items didn't offer a lot of color and size options, but I guess it's pretty late in the season to be buying some of this stuff. Hey, but for half the price, I'll wear purple long johns!
