we are arriving in charlotte around 9pm on friday night and want to stay in an area where we can go to the hotel drop our bags and sit in a bar and chat for a while. not into clubs....currently booked at the courtyard city center on south tryon.
is that a good area to be in?
is there another area i should stay.........

I agree - great location. But if you're over 35 and aren't into the party scene, I'd warn you away from Epicenter. The Courtyard is a block away from Mimosa Grill, Ruth's Chris or McCormack & Schmitt's, all of which have decent bars.
