Charlotte, NC area restaurant recommendation
We would like to give a gift certificate to friends who are celebrating their 40th anniv, and live in Matthews, NC. They prefer seafood, and only eat healthy options, thus something other than fried foods. I'd be open to any good restaurant, perferably not a chain, including different cuisines. Thanks for your help.

I live in Matthews as well. There is a well-regarded French retaurant in Matthews called Sante that is supposed to be really good. I haven't personally eaten there (my tastes are a little less refined than what is usually on their menu) but it seems to be the place to go for celebratory dinners. I've known several people who have eaten there and raved about it.

Tracy, thanks so much for the suggestion. I will see if they are online to check it out. I should clarify, the dinner is not specifically for their anniv. celebration, but our gift to them, so it doesn't have to be a special place, but I would like it to have good food, with healthy options. Thanks again.

If they're willing to drive into Charlotte, Upstream in Southpark is a good option for higher end seafood (http://www.harpersgroup.com/upstream.html).
It's part of the local Harpers restaurant group which means the gift card you'd buy can be used at any of their restaurants. You can order on their website and even have it sent directly to your friends.

Sante is excellent & most of their ingredients are purchased from the (all organic) Farmers Market across the street (I see them there, first thing every Saturday morning. They also (typically) have a couple of seafood dishes on their menu. www.santeofmatthews.com

Thanks so much for the wonderful response. I have checked out the websites and cannot decide, they all sound so good. My new plan is to get two gift certificates, so they can try out two restaurants. Now all I have to do is decide which two!
