Charlotte GTG?

Hey everyone! I read about all of these GTG's and they sound like tons of fun so I thought I would post here to see if anyone in/around Charlotte would be interested in having a GTG. I moved to Charlotte (Matthews) a few years ago but I still don't know many people, and it would be nice to chat with others who have the travel bug like I do.

I'm very open on dates but thinking maybe a Saturday in September or October for lunch or dinner/drinks. So, is anyone interested?

Tracy, I think that sounds like a fine idea. Gado Gado might be a good spot, on the patio.

I am so glad you responded...I hoped you would see this! GoTravel also responded on the lounge. I haven't yet been to Gado Gado but it looks like a popular spot so that sounds super. We'll have to figure out a date!

We stopped there for drinks the other night. They seldom have a huge crowd but do (typically)have some kind of special(s) going on. Been to the Farmers market ?

Let me know when and the later in the year is better for me but please don't plan around my schedule.

I have the marathon and long runs on Saturday.

SAnParis, thanks for topping! I think there are a couple more Charlotteans on this board, so hopefully thye will see this.

I have been to the Farmers Market a few times this year, although usually we are in and out fairly quickly. I admit, I'm a sucker for homemade baked goods so that's where I usually head!

GoTravel, my dates are very open. If everyone would prefer to meet on a Friday night or Sunday afternoon or evening, or even a weekday night, that would be fine with me as well. I would love to have you join us!

Maybe we should start looking at dates. Since I'm very open, I'll let those of you with calendar restrictions chime in. Anyone care to recommend a few dates?

Once school starts next week I may have some evening restrictions but I am fairly flexible. Any thoughts on Gado Gado or other ideas ?

Topping again....

SAnParis, I think Gado Gado sounds great, or if anyone else has suggestions I would be happy to hear them. It would be nice to sit outside.

Just now saw this! I'd definitely be interested, but my calendar is up in the air as well. What's Gado Gado? I live near uptown (Plaza Midwood), so I do not know much about Matthews, but I'd be up for a trip out to the 'burbs. Keep us posted on the plan.

I had to look it up also. When another online group came to Charlotte (from all over the country!) we went to Lulu's. They loved it--and they were all foodies. We did a J&W tour.

Another one on board...hopefully! I am very, very open. If you guys would prefer to meet in uptown, or wherever, let me know. I'm used to St. Louis, where everything was spread out and I thought nothing of driving 40 minutes away to get to the mall (I lived on the IL side), so a short drive to uptown will do me no harm!

I guess the question is are we meeting for drinks & such, or what ? Gado Gado has a nice patio right on the main drag in Matthews which is appealing too me (+ lets face it, I can walk there). But I am not opposed to another venue.

I'll see if I can get a flight - can't promise anything, but I'll make the effort.
