Charleston SC historic district: B&B/Inn/House Rental with 4 BR

We will be in Charleston with an extended family for about 3 nights the week between Christmas and New Year's. We would like to stay in the historic district and will have a car.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a bed and breakfast, house rental, or small inn where we could get 4 bedrooms? We would like a good location, charm, and rates of less than about $150 per bedroom (and preferably less than that). A bed and breakfast or small inn where we could take all of the rooms would be great, but not essential.

I have looked at VRBO and there seem to be a few possibilities that might meet these criteria, which I will pursue also.

Thanks very much,

Len

Try 4 Unity Inn. It's in a nice neighborhood and is within your budget. Prices may be higher during the holidays.

If you find something for less than $150 check to make sure it's in the Historic District. That budget is a little low for the HD.

A lees expensive option would be to stay in Mt Pleasant. Old Post House is nice, but you will have about a 20 minute drive into the HD.

Thanks very much for your quick response! I have emailed 4 Unity Inn to check on availability and rates. (We would really like to stay in the HD, even if we have to sacrifice charm.)

Any additional ideas if 4 Unity turns out to be too expensive?

I highly recommend 15th Church Street B&B located in the Battery section of the historic district. The owners are wonderful and the location is very good. It's about a 15 minute walk north into the heart of the district where many of the restaurants are located, if you maintain a good pace. If you're a slow walker, it's about a 20-25 minute walk. They don't have a website and they don't advertise. But they don't need to, thanks to the glowing reviews on b&b.com and trip advisor:

You won't be sacrificing charm if you stay in the HD. That's why the rates are higher.

Thanks. 15 Chruch Street does sound fabulous, though it looks like we will be lucky to get 4 rooms for $200 each per night, which would be a good deal above what we were hoping to spend. But I have emailed them to see whether there is any hope of staying within our budget.

You may want to rethink that budget if you want to stay in the HD. That week is very popular with travelers and the convenience of walking to everything interesting comes at a price. If your budget isn't negotiable then look into options either in Mt Pleasant or West Ashley.
