Charleston place to stay
Hi-
My finace and I are looking for a cute, nice not too expensive (<$130/night) place to stay in Charleston in the historic district for a few nights next week (March 6-10). Any recommendations? Do you know anything about the Meeting Street Inn vs Elliot House vs Phoebo Pember House?
Thanks so much!

Hi, If you go to the Fodors Search Box and type in GoTravel you will find a fantastic thread she recently wrote regarding Charleston. I would imagine tht her thread would answer all kinds of questions you have. Have a fun trip!

I'm not familiar with The Elliot House or the Poebo Pember House but the location of the Meeting Street Inn is excellent right on Meeting Street.
It sits between The Mills House and Charleston Place right on Meeting Street. Not directly next door to either.

We've also mentioned the Andrew Pinckney Inn. Don't know if it meets your budget, but it's a nice place in the right location. There is a reservation service for Charleston that markets rooms in the Pinckney and in other inns at discount rates, but I can't recall the name of the service. A little search should find it. Good luck.

We stayed at the Meeting Street Inn in December and loved it. The rooms were a little small, but very clean and had lots of character (hard wood floors, four poster beds, etc.) The bathroom was good sized for a hotel and extremely clean (I'm picky about bathrooms!). Service was wonderful, with a friendly, efficient staff. My only complaint about amenities was that the room didn't have an iron or ironing board. When I went to the desk to request an iron the first night, they were all out in other rooms. However, within five minutes, an iron was located and delivered to my door. Little touches like that made our stay very pleasant. The location was also fabulous, because you are literally right in the middle of everything that you want to see or do. I would definitely stay there again!
