Charleston in the Winter?
My husband & I are considering a 3 to 4 day trip to Charleston. Unfortunately, our only time to travel is late november through february. Is that a decent time of year to visit or is everyting closed for the winter? We are not real big shoppers & wonder what all there is to do in this city. Our other options were Myrtle Beach & Gatlinburg - neither of which did we really want to do. Any advice & information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kim

Actually, winter is a great time to visit Charleston because the temperatures are very comfortable. At Christmas time, there are candlelight tours of many of the homes (which are decorated for the holiday). Other tours that are offered daily include carriage tours, plantation tours, historic tours of the old city, ghost tours, and tours about pirates. The new acquarium is also worth a trip.
Charleston also has great restaurants! I recommend Magnolia's and High Cotton. You will not run out of things to see and do in this beautiful city!

You'll love Charleston. To me, its one of the most beautiful cities in the US.
A great way to start your trip is by going to the visitors center and taking a mini bus tour. There are several of these tours, and most leave from the visitors center. They'll give you a great overview so you can decide later on what you'd like to go back and see. Have a great trip.
