charleston hotel for mother/daughter long weekend

Want excellent location so we can walk around. Also, would you recommend renting a car? Price not a major consideration. Thanks

No car, Charleston Place is your best bet for location. Not cheap.

Second choice would be Market Pavillion or Planters Inn.

Third choice; Doubletree, Church Street Inn, French Quarter Inn.

When you say price isn't a major consideration, understand that Charleston hotels are expensive compared to cities of similar size.

If those don't work I can recommend more moderate ones.

Thank you. Market Pavillion and Planters Inn don't have rooms. The least expensive room at Charleston Place is actually not much more that the French Quarter so I think we're on.
no car it is!

one more question, how does the Harbour View compare to the hotels you named?

The Harbourview is an outstanding hotel in the same league with The Planters Inn, Church Street Inn, or French Quarter Inn but the location isn't quite as good.

Love the hotel and the views but I'd go the FQI.

I wrote a long synopsis on Charleston Hotels and you can find it if you search GoTravel's Most Excellent Charleston.
