Considering either the Andrew Pinckney or the Ansonborough Inn for a weekend in Dec. Both look good, the Ansonborough a little nicer, but I hesitate because most of the suites shown on the Ansonborough web site look very dark, many with only one small window.

Anyone have any first hand opinions/experiences with these two? Thanks.

I've only stayed at the Andrew Pinckney and found it to be a lovely boutique inn and the room rate includes breakfast on the rooftop terrace.

I've stayed there twice and will difinitely stay there again.

Like Go Travel, I've only stayed at the Andrew Pinckney, but our suite there was very nice. We didn't have very good luck with the free breakfast, because no matter how early we went they were out of bowls or spoons or milk, etc. However, I would stay there again and I would choose it over the Ansonborough just for the location.

Thanks for the replies. Is the location really better? How so? I was considering that a toss up.

And which type rooms did you stay in? We're considering one of the upstairs/downstairs townhomes at the Andrew Pinckney.

Brian, I have not stayed in the upstairs downstairs units by my girlfreind did with her hubby, child, and mom and loved the townhouse unit!

Since the hotels are literally only a block apart that shouldn't be a worry. However, the Ansonborough is on a busy street as it corners East Bay.

I think it is a matter of half dozen of one, six of another. I've heard lovely things about the Ansonborough Inn.

I'm running the Turkey Trot 5K next Thursday morning so I can check it out if you like?

We stayed in one of the upstairs/downstairs townhouse units at the Andrew Pinckney. It was attractively decorated and it was nice to have the extra space. The upstairs had a full bath, a jacuzzi type tub and a bedroom. The downstairs had a sitting area with a sofa-bed, a microwave and mini-fridge, and a half-bath. I guess the location isn't such a big deal...the Ansonborough just seems farther away to me for some reason. At any rate, have a great time in Charleston!
