Change in Plans looking for help

Okay we now have a change in events. We land in Denver @ 10:30 AM on our 1st day. I do not need to be in Canon City until 6 PM or so the next day so trying to figure out what to do and best spend our time. We really have not carved out much time for Denver should we?

We could spend a day in Denver on our last day before we fly out. Do not leave until 4 PM on the 25th. Reason not spending much time in Denver is that CO has so much beauty outside of Denver. Having lived in San Francisco, Chicago and now being on the East Coast (Boston / New York) my kids do not really want to waste time spending time walking around in the city.

My original Plan was to go to Boulder and see what we could see that 1st day and then spend the night. We now have a college tour the next morning at the University of Denver which is just a short distance from downtown. Is there anything to see and do in that area and should we spend more time there. Right now we plan to do the tour and then head to CO Springs to have lunch at the Broadmore (is it worth going to see the 7 falls?) I read some reveiws and folks were disappointed. If we do not do tat it will leave more time for the Garden of the Gods. Looking for suggestions Thanks

Dave

I'd rather spend time in Denver than COSprings. There are wonderful places to have lunch in Denver--and actually Pallettes at the Denver Art Museum would be an interesting stop. The architecture of the library across the street is also worth a look.
There are good things to do in Denver and Boulder.

As for your departure at 4PM (don't know 25th of what month so what day of the week), you DO need to allow enough time to negotiate the maze at DIA AND get to your gate. We never allow less than a full 2 hours inside the terminal after returning rental car to get to the plane.

Gretchen, you live there, right? We were there a couple of weekends ago, and although we had two hours, it was only because we wanted to arrive before the Denver-Patriots game ended. We do have TSA Pre, there was no line at all, and basically from the time we dropped off our rental car at Hertz to the time we were sitting at our gate was less than half an hour.

Anything is possible. We don't live in Denver--we visit our children via the airport.
I am super safe. Everyone can do whatever they want of course. I have had times when the maze was TOTALLY full. If you have TSA pre-screen then you know what to expcect with that.
My husband seems to be particularly suspicious and gets pulled all the time. If you saw him you would be totally doubled over at this statement.

You might think about getting a tour of CU, it's a beautiful campus with some particularly good programs. Great restaurants in Boulder.

Great Suggestions. July is the month we are traveling so July 25th is a Monday. He did want to visit Boulder and check out University of CO he is very disappointed that they do not have a dive team but he really likes the State of CO so he saw that University of Denver has a division I dive team thus we thought we would swing by. It looks to be a great school academically but he wants a big university but we have time. He is only a sophomore but being looked at already for his diving. He plays several sports and soccer use to be his favorite but now diving has become his top pick and he is very good at it.

So from your comments I think we will go directly to Boulder spend our 1st day and night there and then have lunch in Denver the next day and just take a peak for a few hours at the Garden of the Gods on our way to Canon City.

We raft the Royal Gorge on Friday the 15th so that is our first real adventure of the trip. From there we head up to the Mount Princeton resort for 2 nights. Day 1 there we are renting a jeep to head to St Elmo and spend the day Jeeping. I saw we are renting a jeep because Brendan and I did this trip last summer and had a blast but I did rent a big Tahoe SUV 4 WD so I think it will be too wide for some of those trails plus the rental place most likely has rule against off-roading. the Jeep we rented last time was from a place in Buena Vista but I think we will have to get 2 jeeps we bounced around a lot but we are boys and do not mind. I do not think my wife and daughter are going to want to sit in the back of a jeep all day,....thoughts?

Next day we will hang out at the resort and enjoy the hot springs for awhile we then head to Aspen for two nights so other than the Maroon bells we need some suggestions for that area.

Then from there we head to Glenwood springs to see and do what is around there and we overnight. The Canyon, Hanging Lake,???

From there we head to Breckenridge for 3 nights so I welcome suggestions for that area.

After that we are going to wrap up our last 2 nights somewhere between Breckenridge and Denver. I see that there may be some good rafting around Idaho Springs or is it better in Breckenridge we could always spend an extra day in Breckenridge if there is a lot to do there. Then we could spend our last night in Denver on the 24th before we have to head out Monday afternoon @ 4PM back to CT.

Thank you and I look forward to your suggestions

Dave
