Hello. Does anyone know which cell phone company is most widely used, or is the best, in Vermont? For example, in the area that I live, Verizon is best. I will be going to Vermont and can bring either a phone with Verizon service or a phone with AT&T service and I am not sure which to bring.

Verizon has service up here. Not sure about A T & T. Also,keep in mind that cell service up here is spotty at best. Works fine in the larger towns, but in between it's sometimes hard to get a signal.

Several carriers have service in Burlington, but there are significant differences. Verizon is the only one with reliable, inexpensive service. AT&T's here also, but at 69 cents a minute, you're better off with Verizon. I have AT&T, but use my Verizon phone for travel in VT.

Another vote for Verizon, which in recent years has improved in Vermont.

One of their plans just about blankets the entire US and you can add another family member for about $20 a month.

We're with Verizon and drive through Vermont often.

As mentioned above, sometimes (driving through the mountains) you can't get a signal for a while. It's best to pull off the road when you get a signal if you need to make a call. Otherwise, you may lose that signal as you travel.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that Verizon has agreements with several local carriers whose systems you may be using while traveling through the state. Depending on the phone you have, there are different symbols that will indicate whether you are no longer on Verizon or an associated system. So it will be helpful for you to check with Verizon to learn about these. When the symbols indicate you are on non-Verizon systems, you will end up paying 69 cents or so per minute, something that you will not be particularly happy with. This is rare, but it does happen.
