Celebrating New Year's Day in North Carolina?

Most North Carolina state parks, including beautiful Pilot Mountain, are staging First Day Hikes as a special way to encourage fitness and interaction with nature. What a great way to celebrate the start of a new year!
If you aren't in North Carolina check your state parks to see if they are participating. This is a nationwide initiative.

We in South Carolina enjoy hiking the Appalachian Trail .

I love the tradition of "what you do on New Year's Day is what you'll be doing for the rest of the year." I'll be walking at the beach, having brunch with friends, and playing in the garden. HNY, cm!

Georgia State Parks

The First Day Hike program organized by "Americas State Parks" is an historic event. It represents the first time that all 50 states have collaborated on a nationwide event occurring on the same day. From California to Maine every state park system in the country is participating. Find out which Georgia State Parks are participating by clicking here.

Thanks for that -we're heading to Napa on New Year's Day and a hike sounds great (dinner at Redd's).

The hike was great fun. North Carolina has a superb system of free public parks. Next time you visit us, take advantage!
