This may come off as a weird answer to your post but the Cedar Lodge was the site of a horrible triple murder of three women who were staying there several years ago.

Arrested and convicted was Carey Stayner who worked as a handyman at the lodge. He got in the victims' room by saying he needed to do some work inside. He also murdered another woman who was working as a naturalist in the park.

I am not holding the lodge responsible for this but it would give me the creeps to stay there. If it wouldn't bother you, then it looked like an okay place in a nice setting from all the news coverage.

Wow, I didn't know it was Cedar Lodge! I remember he killed a woman, her teenage daugther and her friend or exchange student out of the country.

Coincidentally his older brother was kidnapped as a child and held in captivity for 7 years. The movie about it called something like "I remember my first name is Steven".

Hi all,

I haven't stayed there, but recommended it to some Dutch friends who were staying with me in the Bay Area. They really liked it (got it from the AAA book) - a wonderful room with hot tub/4 postered bed was theirs at a bargain $80/night. They stayed 2 nights.

When I made the reservation for them, I didn't ask directly - but I am sure that they would no longer offer the room in question. My Cloggie friends weren't bothered & were happy to give them the business (this was Dec. 2001).

HTH.

We stayed at the Cedar Lodge about 5 years ago--not long after the murderer was caught. We were sure not to answer the door for anyone! It is just a large motel with several buildings on the main road to Yosemite. It is the closest one to the park. Nothing special but okay to sleep in.

The murders are the first thing I think of when I hear Cedar Lodge. Ick! How about the Tenaya Lodge @ Yosemite? It's a four-star destination resort. Beautiful lobby, two nice restaurants on site. Outdoor pool, jacuzzi, indoor pool with a spa on site, also. It's really nice there! ***kim***

Ummm...this question was previously posted and answered on 3/5-6/04 by OP.

Click on the OP's moniker and you will verify this.

I have stayed at the above named property and I doubted that the OP was REALLY interested in my or other poster's opinions...REACTIONS...yes, but WHY?

Sad,
