It is a charming resort and everyone loves it as long as they realize that this is not a big five star full service resort but instead a nostalgic relic of the 50's-early60's. Little beachy cottages right on the beach and across the road little old motel style rooms on the back bay. I think it would be a great Christmas locale. Head up to Tween Waters for the NasCRAB races (ridiculous and fun) at the bar (kids very welcome and part of the early show, later is definitely R rated). It has been about 2 years but the pastries at the Tween Waters main dining room at breakfast are positively awesome and the food is good as well. It is a great little resort.

What I can not attest to at this time is the quality of the rooms inside at Castaways, as I have not stayed for a while. By the way, it is a pet friendly resort, so you can bring them if you notify them in advance.

We stayed there in May and enjoyed it. You could search for this topic, and there are several comments about it back in May of this year. It is not fancy, just cute little retro cottages right on the beach. The people who run it are nice, and the place is clean. We were in one of the back bay cottages, and walked across to the beach. We canoed around in the back bay with one of their canoes. We brought our dog, and he enjoyed it as well. Hope that helps.

I forgot to add, we would stay there again, but this time we would try for one of the beach cottages for a better view.

Thanks for the great info. I was glad to hear that it was clean. We are taking our cat with us so we had to find a pet friendly resort and there are not many of them on the island. It sounds very relaxing and perfect for what we want. Relaxation!
