Cast Party at Birdland Monday nights

Has anyone been to this lately? I went a few years ago and really loved it, and am interested in going again this trip - or perhaps there are better suggestions out there. I just thought it was a great way to spend a Monday night with little theatre going on. I am surprised it never gets a mention on Fodors. I have asked twice in the past and only got one response...So is this just not a Fodorite thing or what?

I don't know, but go and report back. I haven't been in the city on a Monday night in ages, but always loved cast party at Birdland. I'm only guessing it's still fun.

I had been in the past a few times, 4 or 5 yrs ago, and it was ok, some high points, some low points. We went back one Monday night a yr ago and it as just , well honestly, awful. Bad acts, and they were all allowed to perform as long as they liked. We decided that was it for us.

I would look for som live music on a Monday night instead. Do you want suggestions for that?

Neopatrick I just might give it another go in spite of emd3's bad experience. If I do I will certainly report back. I will be there end of August with my adult daughter who is not a native English speaker - nor a theatre dance buff like me. So yes, emd maybe live music is a good idea for a night out and I am open to any suggestions. I have already got Kinky Boots tickets which I think is the type of theatre she will enjoy, but need to be flexible on other nights, so any suggestions are welcome.

interesting. Over the years, I've had a couple off nights there, but generally, there are more people trying to sign in to sing than there are spots for them, so no one but the really great ones ever seem to get a chance to sing more than one song. I do know that it hasn't been so long since various famous people have appeared there. I sometimes see blogs about them on other sites.
