Carmel Lodging Advice, please...

I'm looking into a quick getaway to Carmel. I found great winter rates at the Bay View Inn and the Coachman's Inn. I can't decide on which one. If anyone has stayed at either of these places I'd love to hear your opinion. Thank you.

bay view inn is a good hotel w/ close proximity to town and has a convenient parking lot; my room also had a terrace view w/ a gas fireplace and was fairly roomy for 4 folks...pretty comfortable beds with continental breakfast thrown in...so overall, fairly good value for the winter rate...

there are tons of other inns and a lot of them look pretty good...one other one that comes recommended is pine inn and its restaurant.

hope this helps

Ricci,

We have stayed at the Bay View Inn three times. Great location (very convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc.) and comfortable rooms. We always request a room with fireplace and view and have been accommodated each and every time (our last room had a view of Point Lobos and the ocean).

It may not be the Ritz, but it is definitely one of the most comfortable motels/inns we have stayed in.

I also found some great rates for the Bay View Inn in April. Do the oceanview rooms there have private balconies? How far from shopping? And names of some really good restaurants right around it?

Thanks for the advice, I think we will stay at the Coachman's although the Bayview sounds real nice also. The Coachman's has an outdoor spa and all the rooms have a fireplace, fridge, micro and VCR. So that kind of tipped the scales for us. There really are some great deals in Carmel right now.

Would the concenus be that Coachman's Inn, the Bayview, and the Pine Inn are good August choices as well? *curious*

Happy Trails,
Paul

We stayed at the Bay View last summer. It was okay, but certainly not worth the price that we paid of $160 per night. We had a large double/double room, fireplace, and huge balcony; however, the decorations were old and the room was not very clean. Location was good. I think there are better places to stay than Bay View. I would not recommend it.

I just returned from a stay at the Coachman's Inn and it was very nice. The room was very large with a fireplace and a wet bar. They have a very nice patio area with a spa and sauna. For the price I don't think you could get much better. We walked by the Bay View and it looked nice too but it had a chain motel look to it. I would highly recommend the Coachman's.
