Our family of three is traveling the coast in April. We have planned one weekday night in Carmel but cannot decide on a place to stay in-town. Does anyone have comments on these four inns? Thanks so much for your input!

A couple of years ago four of us had two rooms at Normandy Inn and loved it. Although the standard rooms weren't large, they were beautifully done and the staff was very nice and friendly. This summer we are returning, but have booked the larger fireplace rooms. They have a lot of pictures on their website.

I've also stayed at the Adobe Inn. It was OK, not nearly as nice a room as at the Normandy, however.

I've stayed at the Normandy and it was very nice and close to the beach. I just recently stayed at the Coachman's Inn and really loved it. We had 2 queen bedded room w/ a fireplace and it was really nice. I think it was one of better places I've stayed in Carmel. Also try the Forge in the Forrest for dinner. They have beautiful outdoor dining and the food was very good.

Thank you both for your comments! I am still a bit curious about the Pine Inn. All the travel guides highly recommend it first for Carmel but their website has so little info (prices and/or photos). Any thoughts?

The Pine Inn seemed a lot bigger, less personable, more hotel like, and as I recall considerably more expensive than either the Adobe or Normandy.

Make sure your place comes with parking.

We were in Carmel a few weeks ago and found out that parking laws are rigidly enforced..even on an off season mid-week day.
