Car rentals in Norfolk, VA

DH and I fly into Norfolk on Southwest at 11:30 pm on a Thursday night in June. We fly out on the following Sunday at 6:15 am. (We will be in town to attend a Saturday afternoon wedding.) We are staying at the Holiday Inn Convention Center on Greenwich. We have to rent a car, as there won't be enough family driving to get us all to the church, hotel, etc. Considering our arrival/departure times, should we rent a car at an airport location, or off site? For example, we have considered taking the free hotel shuttle from the airport on Thursday night, then renting from one of the Enterprise locations near the hotel the next morning. However, those locations are not open early Sunday morning. How would we drop off the car and get to the airport? Do you have any suggestions?

You qualify for a 3 day weekend rate which is usually pretty reasonable, you probably wouldn't save much going offsite. National and Hertz will probably have "3rd weekend day free" coupons on their websites 14 days before pickup. Do you have AAA or Costco membership?
Right now lowest rate is fairly high but may come down closer to pickup time so keep checking. Meanwhile, book at dollar.com and choose the "city special" that comes up.

Sears customers (aka anyone) get discounts with Avis. They have a pretty good deal for you that I found on the Sears website. Book at Avis.com and use AWD discount code D302003 and coupon code TUEA004. The dates I checked came out to $97 total, (coupon is good for 3rd day free. ) (Those O's are all zeros).

Sears also has a deal with Budget. Budget and Avis are owned by the same company (last time I checked) and Budget carries the slightly older cars usually.

The Budget deal will save you another $10, apparently both are located onsite at Norfolk so no shuttle rides offsite.

•Receive One Rental Day Free when you rent an Intermediate through a Full-Size Four-Door car for three consecutive days, including a Saturday night.

•Use Budget Customer Discount (BCD) # D436201 and coupon # TUFZ015 when making your reservation.
