car rental from denver airport and shuttle question

Hello, rented a car from Enterprise, denver (broadway ) as prices were better. I had read there was a shuttle from airport. Does the shuttle go near this place? How much will a cab be from airport to Broadway?

Never used them but this looks like the best deal for a shared ride downtown. http://www.rtd-denver.com/skyride.shtml
A limo can run over $69.
I hope you are renting more than 3 days or your cheaper car rental downtown may cost you more.
The city is building a light rail out to the airport. It will be done in 2016. Until them, you'll be riding on rubber tires.

SkyRide is the way to go. $11 one-way to downtown. A cab will probably be around $50.

You can get off at Union Station or Denver Bus Center. It looks like the latter is about 4-5 blocks from Enterprise so that is probably the closer of the two stops.

If you can, see if you can return the rental at the airport for the same price as returning to downtown. It will make it much easier to do that than have to catch SkyRide or figure out another way to get back to the airport on your return. I've rented from Budget downtown several times and each time I booked it to return at the airport for the same price as dropping it off downtown.

This is not the most convenient location if it is at 2255 Broadway. I cannot find a closer Enterprise office. I am not sure what WhereAreWe is referring to as the Denver Bus Center or 4 or 5 blocks. I think it is around 12-15 blocks.

The Enterprise office at 2255 Broadway is actually at Broadway and Park Ave (or 23rd Ave before it was renamed) and Arapahoe (see note 1). On the other side of Coors Field. The Skyride bus terminal is a Union Station. Union Station is between 16th and 18th which obviously is around six blocks from 23rd. Then your need to walk about 7 blocks south to Arapahoe St. before heading east to 23rd. That is a total of about 13 blocks.

You can save about half of the walking by taking the Metro Ride (free shuttle along 19th St). From the Skyride bus walk to the south end of the underground station to the Metro Ride which will be on your left. Big signs. It is free, just get on. It will head south along 19th stopping at each block. Get off at Arapahoe -about six stops - walk east towards Coors Field along Arapahoe St till you hit cross 22nd, Enterprise will be a little along that block on your left.

Note 1 - Downtown Denver is a little confusing as it is laid out somewhat on the diagonal. The streets and blocks are square but angle away from true north and south. At the Enterprise office on Broadway, Broadway is running on a diagonal to Park and Arapahoe so Broadway, Park (23rd),and Arapahoe come together at a point with a three street intersection. Hope that is clear. Look at a map.

Good luck.

Look at the route map for the AF SkyRide.

Denver Bus Center is at 19th between Curtis and Arapahoe, which looks to be a 4-5 block walk from 2255 Broadway. That looks much closer than Union Station.

SkyRide refers to it as Denver Bus Center, it is also a Greyhound terminal. I refer to it as Denver Bus Center to avoid confusion since that is what the OP would find when looking at the SkyRide website.

Opps, I am slightly in error. There is a Denver Bus Center between 19th and 20th on Arapahoe. It is the old Greyhound bus terminal which I didn't realized has been renamed. Arapahoe runs along the north side of the terminal so just stay on the Skyride from Union Station to the next stop which is the bus center. From there walk east along Arapahoe till you cross 22nd. That is in the range of 4 blocks as previous stated.

The airport is in the boonies - are you saving enough to make up for the time and hassle of getting to the Enterprise office on Broadway? The bus tomfuller recommends (AF line) would get you there in about an hour, looks like the best option if your are looking to minimize cost.
I have used shared ride shuttles at DIA and it was a crap shoot - never know how long you have to wait for it to fill up before departing the airport, where you will fall in the drop off sequence.

Fmpden, please note that the free metro ride only runs mon-fri and only during rush hours. I was bummed when I learned that as I thought it might be a good way to more quickly get to restaurants north of 19th st.

PLEASE weigh all the "stuff" added in for going off premise. I have never found it to be equal to getting on the bus, picking up my car at DIA and going to my kids' home.
Everyone needs to make that decision for themselves--and MANY have said you can drop OFF the car at DIA with no problem/penalty. I don't know.
