Anyone used this tour for whale watching in Kauai?
We're going in Feb, 2013 & DIL has found this one. But we're staying in Poipu so it would be a long drive in the morning to catch the morning tour.
Any advice welcomed. Thanks in advance

I know you aren't going to be there until Feb, but you might try to contact (via a web site or phone call) a few local dive shops and see what they can recommend. I found that they seen to have a good pulse on what's going on and are pretty up front with advice.
Never heard of Captain Bob. Captain Sundown runs Na Pali coast tours out of the North Shore, none of the boats will be running that time of year up there due to weather. You will need to take a boat out of the south
Thanks for the advice. Since we are staying in Poipu I thought it would be easier to do the trip from there and not have to drive up to north shore.
DIL just wants to see whales.
Too bad we're not on Maui...I've seen lots from there!
I honestly can't remember if we went with Captain Andy (out of Port Allen on the South Side -beyond the town of Waimea) - or Captain Bob - wherever he goes out from - but in any event - would recommend you go on a Catamaran - which is the smoothest of the trips. http://www.napali.com/kauai_sailing/
And while we wound up sailing up the beautiful NaPali Coast - we really wanted to get over to dive a crescent shaped island by Niihau - but at the last minute - a wedding party chartered the whole boat. Bummer, but we still had a blast going up the NaPali coast - which is stunningly beautiful, and we saw dolphins and turtles as well.
And if you want another diving option - years ago - my wife was certified by Bubbles Below - in the bay at Hanalei. Very nice and professional people.
