Musings and random thoughts on a variety of topics -

Rental cars - It really is cheaper to rent at a non-airport location.
Consider asking for another color other than school bus yellow (although it made it very easy for gomiki to see me coming)

Water temperature - The water in the tidal flats of the bay really IS as warm as bathwater. Fodorites are right
PS - Ocean temps elsewhere really are as cold as one remembers.

Fodorville - Mini-GTGs are wonderful, especially when gomiki offers to share a special slice of Cape life - we met at friend's cottage where 50 years of vacations were spent and countless memories were made. My new memories will be of meeting capecodshanty, gomiki and friend - relaxing and winding down from the workweek with wine and apps and views and good company. CCS had to leave for incoming weekend guests, but the three remaining spent a wonderful afternoon wading in the warm water of the tidal flats and chatting. Yes, Fodorville and Fodorites DID pop up in the conversation.

Lobster Pot - "Saving" the Lobster Pot for the next night was a stupid idea. It was the original plan, but as I walked by my favorite restaurant in Ptown I realized it was a stupid plan. I veered in, headed up to the bar and had a wonderful meal within the first hour in town. And, yes, celebrated with champagne.

Hi starrsville!

It sounds like you guys had a wonderful visit!

And youre so right-I cant think of a better way to end the workweek than with some good drinks, some special friends, and some killer views.

Thanks for sharing!

Traveling alone - Do things you might not do when traveling with others.

I've been to Ptown several times and never had an interest in Art's Dune Tours. I had biked the dunes in the fall and thought I "knew" the dunes. I was wrong. The tour takes you on the dunes and you get peeks at the "dune shacks" that artists have used for years. I was enchanted - and bought three books at the bookstore when I got back into town.

Little birds can make a big impact - The tour couldn't take it to the beach because of the nesting plovers. A little fist-sized bird closing the cape's beaches to all but foot traffic -

Weather advisory glitch - My schooner trip was cancelled at 2:30 - just enough to throw a glitch in the entire day. Do I go to the beach? Is it too late for the effort? What to do in Ptown instead of the beach?
