Cape Cod - around Sandwich

Hello! We are staying in Cape Cod for a couple of nights in September and would love suggestions. My husband and I have stayed in Sandwich a few times but this is the first time back with our son. It's going to be different than it used to be! We'd like to bike on the rail trail but since we can't do a very long section can anyone recommend a good stretch that we can do? I know there is one by the canal, but we love the rail trail. Son will be in a trailer. I think we once rode past a cranberry bog and I'd like to visit one too while we're there. Is it possible to visit one from the trail? I remember a really great burger we had once that we were able to get right off the trail but I can't remember the name. It was a big, casual place with picnic tables. I also saw somewhere that you can have a campfire on the beach at night. We can't do that here so I'd love to do that. Are permits needed? Would you have to contact someone in the town with questions about that? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

How old is the kid?
How about Edaville in not-far-away Carver to see a cranberry bog, ride the train, and more? (A lot of Boston area locals grew up going to Edaville in its original incarnation.)

I have certainly come to the right place to ask! Cobie's has to be it. After a really long ride it was just so good! And thank you for the campfire info. I will check it out.

SambaChula - we are going to Edaville, it's the main reason for the trip! My son just turned 5 and loves trains. He's been a Thomas fan forever and I think he's still young enough to be thrilled. When I saw that Thomas Land was opening and it was so close to Sandwich it seemed like a perfect trip. Sandwich is the first place my husband and I ever vacationed together so I'm so excited for this. We couldn't get a hotel there on a Saturday so we're staying near Carver the first night, doing the park and then heading to Sandwich.

I was thinking of stopping in Providence, RI on the way the first day. Or is there a better place? We're actually staying in Raynham and we've already been to Plymouth so don't want to go there. Thank you both so much!!

Roger Williams Park in Providence has lots of options for a 5 year old, including a zoo, and a miniature train ride if it is operating that day:

Thank you that park looks amazing. I think I might like the swan boat ride as well. We've never been there so it will be nice to see something new. I really need the weather to cooperate with us! I see there is an indoor children's museum there and we have hotels with indoor pools but that won't be nearly as much fun.
