Cape Cod

Never been here, is the weather first part of June good for outdoor activities? Is it crowded that time of year?

Thanks!

The weather picks up in June and it shouldn't be that crowded. Depends where you're headed. Definitely recommend you head over to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket!!

Crowds - most public schools in New England do not get out for the year until mid-late June, so there are definitely fewer crowds. Weekends, depending on weather, get busy and traffic on/off the Cape is worst Friday evening (to) and Sunday afternoon (off). A bit later in the season Saturday morning getting to the Cape and afternoon getting off is busier as most cottage rentals end Sat AM and begin Sat afternoon.

Weather - early June can be beautiful or horrible. Fogs and cool drizzle can occur for days at a time on Cape Cod in late spring, even when weather in Boston area is nice. But it can also be warm and sunny - just don't plan on 80 degree days as the norm.

Beaches - while most beaches that are going to have lifeguards do so starting around Memorial Day, some will not have them during the week until mid-June. Water will be COLD - but then it stays quite cold (relative to other more southern parts of US) until August or September.

We were just a few days on Cape Cod. It was not crowded but could see where it would be very crowded during tourist season. We drove from CC to Boston stopping off at Plymouth to see the rock. Cute town and nice park along the water where the rock is now located.

Legal Seafood restaurant, it is supposed to be good. We tried to get in for dinner but unless you have a reservation you are out of luck or perhaps can stand in line for take out. There is one on the route from Boston to Cape Cod. And there is one in Logan airport in Boston plus several other locations.

You could fly into Boston or Providence, RI.

Definitely make a plan to visit the National Seashore. If its your first time to the area,

The end of September is a lovely time to visit the Cape. Less crowded, warmer water, and everything is open. Most beaches that charge for parking during the summer will be open for free at that time also, with the exception of the National Seashore beaches.

Airport - whichever has cheaper air, Providence or Boston.

Weather in September - likely less damp than early June, about same temperatures. Unless some nasty hurricainedecides to hand around off the east US coast - chance of getting seriously hit by hurricaine is low, but rain and wind would not make for a pleasant visit.

Traffic - when it rains on the Cape traffic is horrible - everyone is driving around trying to find something to do in the rain (not easy) and roads cannot handle the volume.

The weather is gorgeous here right now. We have had a real spring. The first I ever remember. June will be lovely if this continues.

It is gorgeous here now, and as gomiki notes, this is really unusual. Best spring in 20 years. Yesterday's high here in Nantucket was about 63 degrees!

It is often foggy because the water is still very cold. When warm, humid southern air comes up, it turns to mist. In the evening this is charming. If it is in the middle of your outdoor wedding, not so great.

I don't think it is warm enough to swim before mid-July, and I never went swimming last year except to swim in from our mooring after a (rare) sale.

Last summer: The summer that never was. We're already way ahead this spring; as everyone has said, it's been gorgeous! The water at Harding's Beach in Chatham was like bath water today. Lots of people sailing and kite surfing.
