And the rooms I'm able to reserve are Very expensive! What's going on in NOLA the week of April 15? I booked a sweet package last year for the same dates but I can't come close to that this spring. Anyone hear of any discounts on rooms or flight/hotel packages? I've checked the usual places including travelzoo, AAA, jetsetter. Jetsetter has a sale going on for only 3 nights of the 5 I'm trying to book and I'm not interested in switching hotels.
Any suggestions for finding a trip package deal or rooms under $250.00 a night? Anyone see any discounts on flights out of the Northeast? Thanks in advance, NOLA Krewe!
Can't find a room in FQ, week of 4/15-4/22!

Try the packages offered by the Dauphine.
Thank-you! Rooms are running about $289.00 a night before taxes. That's not in the budget but the hotel looks gorgeous!
Have you checked for a hotel in the Garden District near the St. Charles St. street car line? Before Katrina I spent a couple nights in a hostel in the Garden District for less than $50/night.
Check kayak.com
The Hermann House rooms at the Dauphine are my favorite in the city.
Thanks, tomfuller, but I am looking for a FQ hotel. (not interested in hostels at this time)
It looks like the night of the 21st may be the problem. If you don't have to be there on the 21st, you could cut down on the price of the week's stay - or move to another hotel for the last night, even at the airport. You could head out to the countryside, go see Avery Island, etc at the end of the trip and save some money for the rest of the NOLA nights.
I can get the Chateau Bourbon for 235.00 but people have been giving negative reviews because of the disruption of the renovations there. I'll check the dates again.
I need to be in NOLA on the 21st.
American College Of Physicians convention.

Then book something that you can cancel later. I tried to book something in San Francisco and rates were sky high. It turned out to be an orthopedic convention. The week before the convention the reserved/blocked hotel rooms were released and I was able to get my favorite hotel at a good rate.
You might look at piecing together two hotel stays.
Le Richelieu in the FQ has rooms WELL under your budget for 4/15, 4/16, 4/17, & 4/18 but is booked solid for 4/19, 4/20 and 4/21. Just a thought.
Looks like Bardo is correct. The problem is in the dates starting April 19th. I have not checked in Metairie but the Crown Plaza at the airport has rooms for $120.00 or so. It's a nice hotel. There may be a B&B in Marigny or in the GD but downtown hotels are booked.

Thanks, everyone.
starrs: I'm going to wait a few weeks and see if any rooms are released; that's a good idea.
