Can you get away with more then 2 people in a Vegas hotel??

Some friends and I are planning a trip to Vegas in two months, and we noticed that all room prices were for double occupancy. And there is like a 20 dollar a night per person per night charge for extra people. If we have 3-4 guests in our room, will they ever know??? any thoughts, suggestions, etc..would be appreciated. We havent decided where to stay yet..possibly Venetican, Flamingo, but are open. Thanks

Sure they'll know. How stupid do you think they are. They are in business to make money out there, besides everything you do, even in bathrooms can be and usually is video taped. Security cameras will see who goes in and out of your room. Gee, watch the Vegas shows on the Travel Channel. They'll tell you all about it. (The taping of everything)

If you can't afford to pay the extra fee for extra people (aren't they going to use towels, more water, etc?) then either find a cheaper hotel that you can afford, or stay home.
Why are you looking to cheat the hotel by lieing about how many people are staying there? Do you also sneak an extra person under the turnstile at amusement parks to avoid paying for them?

3 of us stayed 5 nights at the Rio Suites last April. Because the extra person charge was $20 per night we decided to try and get away with not paying the surcharge. When we checked out our bill was for the reg. double rate although we were prepared to pay the extra $100 if we were asked to. My advice is to go ahead and book the double rate for 3-4 people but have the extra $$ ready if they add the surcharge to your bill. Also, even if you booked a room with 2 beds the hotel has the right to instead give you a room with one king upon arrival, so be prepared for that possibilty. I know someone who works surveillance for Harrahs Corp and he says he is far too busy to match up the # of people he sees in each room with the number of people the front desk has booked. Besides, if a couple pay for a legit double room and then have friends from another room or hotel visit their suite and use the bathroom, etc. is the hotel going to assume the guests are staying over? The logistics of keeping track of who is staying/visiting/paying is very time-consuming for a large hotel.

thanks anon for the help. As for the others, I never said we couldnt afford to pay the extra $$, I was just asking if they even checked or wanted to know. If we get a room for 60-80 dollars a night and it costs 40 extra dollars a night to add two people in there, then we are just going to get 2 rooms. Settle down little, broke uneducated freaks.

I head to Vegas every Dec. with 3 other friends and we always just get a double room. We never tell them there are 4 of us instead of 2 and it has never been a problem! Do you really think that hotels in Vegas arn't making enough money?? As one of the others said I guess you can be prepared to pay the extra, personally my friends have always stood right there while I have checked us in and out and no one has ever said a thing!

Dan, I think you're a little out of line lashing out at others in your second post. Though I've never done it, I guess if you had three rooms booked and added one person to one of the rooms, that might be reasonable. But to double up both rooms seems a bit much. One thing to "get caught" another to live to your conscience. I hope at the very least every room your group books is leaving the maid a good tip (e.g., $5) every day that is stayed.

Let's see now, who is the broke uneducated freak here, Dan who is too cheap or poor to pay the surcharge for extra people, who thinks he can get the Venetian for $60 AND who spells the name "Venetican" (a cross between Venice and Vatican?), and freaks out when crossed, or those whose only sin is reminding him that what he is doing is unethical? Hmmmm, that's a toughie.

It is my sincere hope that you end up in a room with one queen bed, a teeny sliver of soap, no shampoo, two flimsy moth eaten towels, a raucous couple who have at it all night in the thin walled room next door, and phone charges out the wahzoo. Or better still, that all FOUR of you get walked to some flea bag joint by your oversold hotel. Serve you and your el cheapo friends right. Or, maybe you can stand out on the street corner all night instead of getting a room. Earn some spending money by shoving those ads in everyone's face. Yeah, that's the ticket! You just got told what you didn't want to hear about yourself and look at the road rage that ensued. Pathetic hombre, but yeah, you're just the type to sneak extra people in. Absolutely fits the picture.

Stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. They have no limit to the guests staying in the room, so you pay one price no matter how many of your friends show up that night.

Who hasn't done this before? Have you people ever gone on a trip with your friends? Have you ever had friends just crash in your hotel room when you've been partying until 3am? This is Vegas, man! Is this really so "unethical" that you need to get your undies in such a bundle? Wendy is right, the Vegas hotels are doing fine, and all those friends of Dan (FOD) are going to be gambling and drinking and eating in the hotel so don't worry so much about the Venice+Vatican! We're not talking about a 25 room boutique hotel here. Believe me, the Vegas maids have dealt with much worse.

If you stay at at place that requires a room key for each person to enter the pool area you will obviously have a problem.

WOW! It looks like many replying to this had a very sheltered childhood. Have any of you really never been to a hotel party?

Next time someone books a room should they tell the front desk they will be having 15 people spend the night? And that it's ok because you'll cover the extra person fees.
