California Salmon Run - Fishing 10/5-10/12
We are heading to Angels Camp for a week long time share 10/5 to 10/12. The BF is an avid fisherman and discovered that the Salmon are starting to run in CA.
Can anyone tell me more about it. We are interested in doing a day trip from Angels Camp to go fishing for them. Help!

Angel's camp itself is a bit small/remote - but it's pretty country/driving (California Gold Rush area) - and there are some fun things to do around there, such as visiting wineries, caving, hiking, etc Here are some ideas and would love to hear how your trip was - and hey - also how the fishing was.

BTW - if you were asking about where to fish around Angel's Camp - there are a lot of options. Here is one webpage and there are others. In addition to trying to catch some Salmon - if they are running on the main rivers - Sacremento being the main one? - there are numerous small streams and lakes for marvelous Rainbow Trout, and the like.

Thanks Tomsd. I have done a bunch of research for things to do around Angels Camp.
We were checking fishing reports and noticed the Salmon were running. Trying to get more info on that. Is fishing in the lower Sacramento River worth it? Any recommendations on Angler Guides?

Perhaps you could wait until you get to Angel's Camp and get better info for fishing nearby. Sacramento and the American Rivers are not near enough to where you will be to make it worth it the trip. Check info for the Stanislaus and Toulumne Rivers, which are nearer to Angels camp.

Au contraire Michelle. No half day trip is too long if you want to haul in some nice Salmon.
I haven't checked latel b- vbut if you google there are usually fish reports that will tell you what fish are coming upstream and where.
Down here - www.letstalkhookup.com, hqs a ton of links - but not sure about the Central Cal rivers.

Did a little checking for ye:
FYI - the American River runs right through Sacramento, and it's fun to rent as little boat/raft/tube and float along it.
see: http://www.fishwithjd.com/fishing-re...merican-river/ and http://www.sacbee.com/fishingline/#v...a_id=144308651
And here is a report about the Sacramento River from the Sacramento Bee/paper - Sep 27th. Red Bluff is 3 hours north - up by Redding, but down by Sacto is looking pretty good, eh?
SACRAMENTO RIVER, Red Bluff-Limits of salmon were common last week, but most were dark. The ratio of dark to bright fish was about 4 to 1 by one account. But, the run is far from over, and bright fish were being caught downstream near Sacramento.
