California Desert Wildflowers in April
We would like to see a desert in bloom while we are in Southern California April 12-24. We were hoping to see wildflowers in the Anza Borrego Desert, but it apparently blooms in March. Any alternative suggestions?

I think after the January freeze, predicting the wildflower bloom this year might be a little iffy.
You could try the high desert area around the Antelope Valley:

It's been a very dry winter, but we're having some rain now. This could delay the desert bloom somewhat.
Where will you be staying? The Santa Monica Mountains will be green and the flowers will be starting to come out by then.

Death Valley might still be blooming at the start of your trip, likewise the Antelope Valley and it's poppies. A little further north are a couple of side canyons off Highway 395 that can have nice displays and, if we get some more rain in the next month or so, little waterfalls.

Best sight for desert wildflower reports

I'd be surprised if there is much this year.
